Quality of safety
We have always been concerned with the quality of safety, not just in the project's affected areas; we at Monsoon Wind Power Co., Ltd. also place an emphasis on education. And to make the school a place of learning, as well as to establish the safety standards to encourage students' imagination. Monsoon Wind Power electrical engineers handed over equipment and installed electrical systems such as sockets, fans, and lights in 9 classrooms at Pheymai Primary School, Lamam District, Sekong Province, along with providing advice to area academics on installing and using safe equipment.
Community Engagement
IEAD has already conducted many site activities during the pre-construction phase to engage communities in the Project area, including creating the Monsoon Wind Cup (sports tournament), sponsoring the Boat Rowing competition, sponsoring meals for villagers on multiple occasions, sponsoring equipment for a clean water system, and donating teaching supplies to schools.
Assessments and Surveys
IEAD recognized that international lenders were likely to have additional environmental and social requirements beyond those of the local ESHIA.
Community Consultations
As part of the ESIA, IEAD is required to conduct consultations at village, district, and provincial levels. IEAD has conducted six public consultations and they have demonstrated that the local communities are strongly supportive of the Project.
Learning about Wind Turbines
IEAD has been building a relationship with the community since 2011 to ensure that the community understands the Project and is comfortable with raising questions and concerns. The site team had an opportunity to visit a school to teach the students about wind turbines.
